Government of Gujarat in Industries & Mines Dept vide GR No.GIP-102002-708-I
dated 28-6-2002 constituted a high powered Gujarat Industrial
Promotion Board to promote faster industrialization in the State
under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Chief Minister. Hon'ble Minister
for Industry & Tourism is the Vice Chairman. This Board will
accomplish the following objectives:

Operate as a single window
clearance mechanism for all industrial projects exceeding Rs.500
million in investment terms. |

Study, formulate,
adopt and implement suitable policies for the development of
the industrial/manufacturing/service sectors in Gujarat, |
|
Consider individual cases
relating to departures from prevalent policy on a case by case
basis keeping in mind overall public interest. |
|
Study, monitor and analyse
the industrial situation of Gujarat from time to time. |
|
Technology upgradation
in industry in keeping with world trends. |
|
Promotion of exports from
Gujarat. |
|
Inculcation of quality
consciousness in industry. |
|
Ensure that Gujarat industry
achieves and maintains competitive advantage nationally as well
as internationally. |
|
Development of skill and
potential of the workforce as per the current requirements of
the industrial and service sectors; |
|
To promote capacity building
in Gujarat industry in the area of effective use of Information
Technology and of adherence to environmental norms. |
|
Review the situation of
labour issues, and law and order from time to time with reference
to industrial development. |
|
Appropriate steps to reduce
the incidence of industrial sickness. |
|
Any other matter which
the State Government/GIPB may decide from time to time. |
For the purpose, a Secretariat manned by professionals has been
constituted in iNDEXTb. This Secretariat receives the applications
from the promoters of the project in a Common
Application Form (CAF) designed for the purpose.
The relevant portion of the application is forwarded to the concerned
department seeking their comments/views which are then placed before
the Board for an appropriate decision(s).
