Participation of Gujarat at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2008
at New Delhi

India International Trade Fair (IITF) has been organized by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during November 14-27 every year.
For IITF 2008, ITPO had prescribed the theme of Infrastructure and Women Empowerment.  For organizing government’s participation in IITF 2008 at Gujarat Pavilion, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, Government in Industries & Mines Deptt., appointed  iNDEXTb as a Nodal Agency.

The salient features of the design and display in the pavilion are given below:


Outside facade

Keeping in mind the theme of Infrastructure and Women Empowerment, on the right side, a rotating module of Garba as the symbol of cycle of creation, transformation and development was displayed.    Whereas,   on the left side of the entrance of the pavilion, a replica of Government’s ambitious project of Gujarat International Finance Tec-city (GIFT), coming up near Gandhinagar was displayed. On the main entrance, a replica of Adalaj Vav (Step-well) was prepared and projected as the ancient symbol of Water Infrastructure and Women Empowerment.  All the modules became the centres of attraction among the visitors to the fair.



Inside Right – Women Empowerment

Inside the pavilion, these two subjects were further elaborated by panels covering various  topics like government’s policies -  Nari Gaurav Niti – to promote women’s  participation in public decision making and all-round development, Gujarat State Women Commission, Nari Adalat, Kanya Kelavani, Vidyalaxmi Bonds, Vidyadeep Yojana, Chiranjeevi Yojana,  Matru Vandana, Beti Bachao Movement etc. have been displayed.    A 3-D model of Gujarat Gram Haat was prepared showcasing the Government’s approach of helping artisans with research, design, packaging, branding and marketing of handicrafts.

Central Portion

On the infrastructure side, the achievements of the state government for  rural electrification in the form of Jyoti Gram Yojana - the scheme to provide 24 hour interrupted three-phase power supply was displayed by preparing a rural house, showing therein the electrification, usages of electrical and electronic appliances viz. refrigerator, TV, computer,  CNG connectivity etc. were displayed.  To project the unique urban infrastructure, a model of Sabarmati River Front project was prepared and displayed.

Inside Left

The left side of the pavilion was dedicated to the Infrastructure. In this section, achievements and plans of Government in various sectors  like water management – interlinking of rivers, Sujlam Suflam Yojana, power, port development, road network, air connectivity, urban development projects, education and research institutions have also been displayed in the pavilion, in addition to the development of Petrochemicals and LNG.

The details of  various upcoming projects in Gujarat viz. Dedicated Freight Rail Corridor (DFC), Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), Special Investment Region, Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR), Special Economic Zones (SEZs), etc. are also given through LED panels and backlit translites, in addition to the 3-D models of LNG terminal, LNG Value Chain etc.

Handloom & Handicraft Sector

For promoting the handloom and handicraft sector of Gujarat 45 stalls of different sizes were developed on a space of 258 sq mtrs in Hall No.18. During the period of the exhibition from November 14-27, 2008, the stall holders  have made an aggregate sale of Rs.35,40,980.00. 

The Gujarat pavilion was adjudged the BEST FOR EXCELLENCE IN DISPLAY during IITF 2008, and was awarded GOLD MEDAL.
